Our brief was to reduce the external noise levels measured around a 100 tonne mine vehicle without adversely affecting the operation and cooling of the vehicle.
Our strategy and approach on this project was :

  • Conduct noise assessment of the vehicle. The highest noise level was found to be directly in front of the vehicle.
  • To reduce the noise level at the front of the vehicle an attenuator was designed to fit in front of the radiator without restricting the airflow and cooling of the vehicle.

A number of considerations had to be taken into account before any designs could be considered.
