Brian joined Ventac in early 2010. His background is in technical sales and business development. He left Kevin Street in 1986 with a diploma in Applied Physics. He joined the Nuclear Energy Board for two years before concentrating on industrial automation. In the last five years he has become more involved in the ventilation and renewable energy sectors, focusing on energy-saving solutions to improve the interior air quality in the domestic and commercial markets. Brian is also very involved with industrial manufacturing, an area in which Ventac has a close association with, including several multinational customers.

Mark Simms, Laboratory Manager

MARK_SIMMS_WEB

Mark is responsible for providing technical acoustic knowledge and for conducting relevant acoustic tests at the Ventac laboratory facilities and vehicle noise assessments at our customers’ sites. Mark has extensive experience in vehicle noise assessments and in testing both acoustic materials and building acoustics.

Vehicle noise: Mark has acoustically assessed industrial, agricultural, building, military and mass transport vehicles and developed noise control kits for each type of vehicle with the engineering team. This involves not only the evaluation of the best available existing noise control solutions but also the development of new and more innovative solutions.

Acoustic Materials Testing: Mark has used the laboratory facilities to assess the performance of noise control materials, composites, isolation mountings, barriers, silencers, attenuators and jacket and enclosure arrangements. He has built up an extensive knowledge of the acoustic behaviour of these noise control solutions in the lab.

Building acoustics: Mark has conducted extensive laboratory tests of floor and wall constructions and tested their performance in completed buildings in the field. This work has been on constructions on or for domestic buildings, office buildings, conference centres, performance areas, churches, lecture halls, test facilities, motorways and rail lines. This work has been primarily on the test parameters Sound Transmission Loss (Airborne Sound and Impact Sound), Sound Absorption Coefficients and Reverberation Times.

Environmental, Health and Safety: Marks background was originally as an Environmental, Health & Safety consultant. This has given him experience in conducting Environmental Noise assessments and Health and Safety Noise assessments in a very wide range of industrial and domestic situations. By working closely with the experience of the Ventac Contracts Team these assessments are carried out with a view to a practical and deliverable solution.
