Ventac Present Acoustic Fan Jacket Research At Fan 2012, Paris |
Fan 2012 brought together the leading stake holders in fan development from 27 different countries, including manufacturers, Universities and Government Bodies. Fan noise represented a central theme at this conference. Ventac's Laboratory Manager, Mark Simms, was pleased to present his paper on a range of innovative new fan jackets developed and manufactured at our facility in Blessington.
Ventac developed the product by measuring the sound power level of fans fitted with acoustic jackets using Sound Intensity as per ISO 9614. With this technique noise maps could be generated showing areas radiating high levels of sound energy or 'hot spots'.

Study Says EU Moving Too Slowly On Noise Pollution |
|
An article featured on the EurActive.com website details how the EU could be dragging their heels in relation to introducing noise pollution measures.
"Ambitious vehicle noise reduction proposals would enable eight million people to sleep soundly, cut noise annoyance by 39% and save €326 billion over 20 years, a Dutch research group says in a new report.
The cumulative effect, says the organisation that commissioned the report, is that “the benefits of cutting noise outweigh the costs by more than 30 times.”
The European Parliament’s environment, transport and internal market committees are currently considering a draft EU regulation tightening automobile noise emission limits that was produced last December."

"Ventac installed a substantial noise barrier on the Luas Green Line on behalf of the RPA. Ventac installed the barrier to RPA’s specifications in the constrained environment of an operating railway. RPA were very happy with the quality of the work. Ventac’s communication was excellent and the Ventac team worked well with the Luas Operator, Veolia and it’s maintenance contractors to ensure that the project was completed to everyone’s satisfaction." Quarry Management - October 2011 |
|
Quarry Management The monthly journal for the mineral products industry
It is perhaps stating the obvious to say that the very nature of a quarry or surface mineral working means it has the potential to be an inherently noisy operation. Heavy machinery, heavy vehicles, blasting operations and even vehicle reversing alarms are all obvious sources of noise in quarrying operations that can cause significant disturbance to the sites neighbours and increase noise at work issues.
