Ventac Present Acoustic Fan Jacket Research At Fan 2012, Paris
2012_04_Fan2012_group_photo_compressed Fan 2012 brought together the leading stake holders in fan development from 27 different countries, including manufacturers, Universities and Government Bodies. Fan noise represented a central theme at this conference. Ventac's Laboratory Manager, Mark Simms, was pleased to present his paper on a range of innovative new fan jackets developed and manufactured at our facility in Blessington.

Ventac developed the product by measuring the sound power level of fans fitted with acoustic jackets using Sound Intensity as per ISO 9614. With this technique noise maps could be generated showing areas radiating high levels of sound energy or 'hot spots'.

Study Says EU Moving Too Slowly On Noise Pollution

An article featured on the EurActive.com website details how the EU could be dragging their heels in relation to introducing noise pollution measures.

"Ambitious vehicle noise reduction proposals would enable eight million people to sleep soundly, cut noise annoyance by 39% and save €326 billion over 20 years, a Dutch research group says in a new report.

The cumulative effect, says the organisation that commissioned the report, is that “the benefits of cutting noise outweigh the costs by more than 30 times.”

The European Parliament’s environment, transport and internal market committees are currently considering a draft EU regulation tightening automobile noise emission limits that was produced last December."

It was an opportunity for us to demonstrate our testing and research capabilities in our laboratory. Ventac is currently working with Zetor on various developmental projects.
